During the lockdown, the only way to record a client’s voice was remotely. With care, the results can be so successful that I am now offering a ‘remote’ demo recording service, whereby you play your backing track in your headphones, record your vocal on your smartphone, then send the two elements to me and I will do the rest!
This is an affordable and realistic way to record a good quality vocal demo. I take great care with the editing, and step by step instructions can be provided regarding the appropriate smartphone mic settings etc.
Prices start from £75 plus VAT per song - please contact me for further details, and to discuss your specific requirements.
I am pleased to offer students and new graduates a 10% discount on the final price.

Music has been my life ever since my junior school phoned my parents when I was four years old and told them to ‘buy the boy a piano’, such was my fascination with the keyboard! I became a junior exhibitioner at the Royal Academy Of Music, then studied full time at the Guildhall School Of Music & Drama, graduating in 1985, having won the Walter Hyde Memorial Prize.
My first professional job in theatre was Assistant Musical Director for a national tour of Cabaret in 1986 and its subsequent transfer to the Strand Theatre. I met my wife, a member of the Cast in the ‘Lady Orchestra’ who has subsequently forged a highly successful career as a singing teacher: Kathleen Savage - Love Your Voice!
The following year I was invited to play the solo on-stage piano role of 'Oscar' in 42nd Street (Theatre Royal, Drury Lane), and I have been fortunate to be working continuously in the West End ever since.
My positions as Musical Director include Chicago (Adelphi Theatre), Saturday Night Fever (London Palladium) and Black Goes With Everything (Churchill Theatre, Bromley), and credits as Assistant Musical Director include The Rink (Cambridge Theatre), Me & My Girl (Adelphi Theatre), Grease (Dominion & Cambridge Theatres), and Starlight Express (Apollo Victoria Theatre).
My work as a freelance keyboard player includes the West End productions of Chess, Les Miserables, Crazy For You, Leonardo, Mamma Mia!, The King & I, Kiss Me, Kate, and Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Other projects include being Musical Director for Grange Hill (BBC T.V. 1995-6), and composing background music for Rediffusion International.
I have worked as a vocal coach at a number of the UK’s leading stage schools, including Performers College, East 15 Acting School, The Guildhall School Of Music & Drama and The London Studio Centre.
I am very proud to be London Musical Director of Mamma Mia! - a position I have held since 2005, together with supervising the Milan production in 2010. This amazing show continues to be a huge part of my life, and I still feel privileged to preside over those famous ABBA hits every night.
If you want a track recorded with minimum fuss, but plenty of care, Marcus is your man!!
He created a beautiful backing track for me, and I had planned to get to a studio to record the vocal track, but obviously not an option currently.
So to be able to record the vocals ON MY PHONE, and still come out with this kind of quality, is fantastic!
This was simply a personal project, but I'm so chuffed with the quality, I'll definitely be coming back to do more!!
